　西山氏庭園は、鉄道沿線に開発された郊外住宅地に昭和15年（1940年）に造営された枯山水を中心とした庭園です。主庭（青龍庭）の設計は昭和を代表する庭園研究家・作庭家の重森三玲（しげもりみれい）で、枯滝石組、枯流れがそれぞれ龍の頭、胴体を表す。
　同氏庭園は、当時の写真や作庭に関する様々な資料が残されており造営過程も明らかです。現在の庭園空間も作庭当時の姿を良好に留めていることから、近代になって鉄道沿線に開発された郊外住宅地に残る庭園の代表的事例として重要です。

Nishiyama Garden is a Japanese dry landscape garden (karesansui) created in 1940 within a suburban residential area developed along a railway line. The main garden, known as the Seiryu Garden (Blue Dragon Garden), was designed by Mirei Shigemori, one of Japan's most renowned garden designers and scholars of the Showa era. The stone arrangement of the dry waterfall and the dry stream symbolize the head and body of a dragon.
Photographs from the time of its construction, along with various historical records and design materials, have been preserved, making it possible to trace the garden's creation process in detail. The garden remains remarkably well preserved and retains much of its original appearance. As a representative example of a garden within a suburban residential area developed along a railway line during Japan's modern period, it is regarded as culturally and historically significant.
